Verify that the set can supply the agreed electrical output.
GENERATOR LOAD BANK TEST
A buyer-side guide to verifying generator output under controlled load before shipment release.
NO-LOAD OPERATION DOES NOT PROVE RATED PERFORMANCE.
A load bank gives the buyer a controlled way to apply electrical demand and observe how the generator behaves before release.
Observe voltage, frequency and engine behavior as load increases.
Check cooling, temperature rise and heat rejection under sustained load.
Confirm protection logic where included in the agreed FAT scope.
THE TEST SHOULD FOLLOW A DEFINED LOAD PLAN.
The exact sequence depends on the project, but the buyer should know what percentage, how long and what readings are required.
THE TEST REPORT SHOULD SHOW MORE THAN “PASS.”
Phase voltage and regulation at each load step.
Frequency stability and response under changing load.
Phase current and balance where applicable.
Engine RPM or governing response where relevant.
Coolant, oil and other relevant thermal readings.
Abnormal leakage, vibration or noise during loaded operation.
A SHORT DEMONSTRATION AND A MEANINGFUL LOAD TEST ARE NOT THE SAME.
Test duration should be long enough to observe stable operation and thermal behavior for the agreed project requirement.
THE LOAD TEST NEEDS A PASS / HOLD / REWORK BASIS.
Without defined acceptance limits, a test can become a demonstration rather than a release control.
Check regulation and phase behavior under load.
Confirm governing and recovery are acceptable.
Cooling and thermal performance should remain controlled.
Fuel, oil and coolant systems should remain secure.
Protection and shutdown behavior should match the approved logic.
Readings, photos and test records should be tied to the actual unit.
THE TEST RESULT SHOULD LEAD TO A CLEAR RELEASE STATUS.
WHERE LOAD BANK EVIDENCE BECOMES WEAK.
This does not prove rated output or loaded stability.
A brief peak does not show sustained thermal behavior.
Without limits, “pass” becomes subjective.
The report should clearly belong to the inspected unit.
Leaks, loose connections or heat-related issues may appear after loaded operation.
Duty, site, rating and application should shape the test plan.
THE LOAD BANK TEST IS PART OF SHIPMENT RELEASE — NOT JUST FACTORY THEATER.
MFG POWER treats the load test as evidence that the agreed generator can carry the agreed load under a defined test basis.
The useful output is not a video of a running machine. It is a traceable record of load, readings, acceptance criteria, open issues and final release status.
DEFINE THE LOAD, READINGS AND ACCEPTANCE BASIS BEFORE THE TEST STARTS.
Send the generator specification, PO or supplier FAT proposal. MFG POWER can help identify what should be loaded, recorded and verified before shipment release.
